How do I repair seams and cracks before coating?

Use a liquid rubber sealant (Liquid Rubber Roof Sealant, SEBS Sealant) or polyurethane sealant (XD TravelPRO Roof Sealant) to fill cracks and reseal any open seams. For larger repairs, embed polyester or fiberglass reinforcing mesh into the sealant for added strength. Allow all sealant repairs to cure fully — typically 24–48 hours — before applying the coating.

Polyester fabric is commonly used to reinforce roof coating systems. When embedded in the coating, it helps bridge minor cracks, splits, and surface irregularities while increasing the tensile strength of the system. The reinforcement improves resistance to tearing and punctures and helps distribute stresses across the coated surface. Polyester fabric remains flexible and conforms well to roof details, making it an effective reinforcement for areas subject to movement and thermal cycling.

Features & Benefits:

Lightweight and easy to handle.
Conforms well to irregular or curved surfaces.
Resistant to mildew, rot, and biological degradation — unlike fiberglass or natural fiber alternatives.
Increased Strength providing better tear and puncture resistance.
