Do I need a primer before applying the coating?

It depends on the product and substrate. Road Guard XD TravelPRO and Liquid Rubber do not require a primer. However, fiberglass and some metal roofs may benefit from a primer coat for better adhesion. Always check to make sure you know what you are coating.

What type of roof do most RVs have?

Knowing your roof type is essential before choosing a coating product. Most RVs have one of four roof types: EPDM rubber — most common, black or white rubber membrane TPO — thermoplastic polyolefin, typically white Fiberglass — rigid, found on higher-end coaches Aluminum — found on older or vintage RVs

What’s the best weather condition to apply RV roof coating?

Ideal conditions are: Temperature between 40–130°F Low humidity (below 50% RH) No rain forecast for 24–48 hours Overcast or mild sun — avoid application in direct intense sun as the coating can skin over before it levels properly Light to no wind

How long does RV roof coating take to dry?

Surface dry (touch dry) typically occurs in 2–6 hours. Full cure usually takes 48–72 hours under normal conditions. Full waterproofing performance may take several days in cooler or humid conditions.

Road Guard Liquid Rubber Skylight Coating is a single-component clear protective product made specifically for skylights (plastic domes, acrylic or polycarbonate). As skylights age, their surface becomes UV exposed and starts forming small cracks that will fill with dirt and reduce how much light gets through. Skylight Coating protects against the age-related oxidation and chalking that can occur. This product can endure thermal cycling and will not crack or peel with temperature changes.

Features & Benefits

UV Protection — Create a firm protective film to prevent oxidation.
Protect From Weather Extremes — Flexible and easy to apply.
Restore Clarity — No need to replace a cloudy skylight.
Prevent Cracking — Will fill small cracks and create a new smooth surface.
Superior Adhesion — Sticks to most surfaces and will dry clear and remain flexible over time.
